The TVK-led coalition government in Tamil Nadu, headed by Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay, has marked its first 100 days with administrative reform, fiscal consolidation, and welfare measures, while facing controversies over transparency, defections, and ministerial conduct.
The Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) won 108 seats in the 234-member Tamil Nadu Assembly in May, securing a 35% vote share and becoming the single largest party without a majority. Subsequently, the TVK formed a coalition government with the Congress, IUML, and VCK, while the two Left parties offered outside support. Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay leads the government.
In its first 100 days, the government has pursued administrative reform, fiscal consolidation, and welfare measures. It has also encountered controversies concerning transparency, defections, ministerial conduct, and the behavior of party cadres.
The parties in the coalition had contested the election alongside the DMK, which Vijay had positioned as the TVK's principal political enemy.
