The Tamil Nadu government, referred to in the announcement as the TVK government, has planned to launch the Singappen credit scheme for women entrepreneurs at an outlay of ₹7,015 crore. Minister for Cooperation V Gandhiraj announced the scheme in the state assembly, saying it is intended to empower women socially and economically, reduce rural poverty, and enable women to achieve financial independence. The scheme will be implemented through cooperative societies, with loans to women to help them become entrepreneurs.
The minister also announced that the government will provide rural business loans at 9% interest for micro and small-scale farmers. The state will allocate ₹5,000 crore for this scheme, which aims to encourage farmers to take up farm-related businesses.
In addition, the government announced it would introduce a common trademark, referred to as the 'Vetri' logo, and expand UPI services, according to the assembly announcement.
