Tamil Nadu plans a ₹300 crore, 400-bed government multi-super-specialty hospital in Perambur to bring advanced care closer to North Chennai residents and ease pressure on existing facilities.
The Tamil Nadu government will build a 400-bed multi-super-specialty hospital in Perambur at a cost of ₹300 crore, officials said. The facility is intended to make advanced care more accessible for North Chennai residents. The state already operates the Government Multi Super Specialty Hospital at Omandurar and the Kalaignar Centenary Super Specialty Hospital in Guindy. According to officials, the proposed Perambur hospital would reduce the distance North Chennai patients must travel for specialised treatment and is part of a broader effort to close healthcare gaps in urban neighbourhoods. Government Stanley Medical College and Hospital, which provides tertiary-care services, is often overcrowded, and patients requiring specialised services are frequently referred to the hospitals in Omandurar and Guindy.
