Tamil Nadu withdraws directive targeting student participation in protests

The directive drew on part of the agenda of a Law and Order Meeting chaired by the Chief Secretary on July 28, 2026, days after Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan resigned following student protests at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi steered by the CJP. Tamil Nadu also saw its own protests and sit-in agitations, including one at Balan Illam.
