Former Tamil Nadu minister Thangam Thennarasu criticized Chief Minister Joseph Vijay's decision to abandon the Parandur Greenfield Airport project, saying it could cause economic damage and push industries to Andhra Pradesh. He said all options, including two runways, were studied before Parandur was selected.

Thangam Thennarasu, former Tamil Nadu minister and DMK MLA, said on Monday that scrapping the proposed Parandur Greenfield Airport project for political reasons could cause economic damage to the state and prompt industries to shift to neighboring Andhra Pradesh. He was responding to Chief Minister Joseph Vijay's decision to abandon the project. Thennarasu said all possibilities, including the construction of two runways, were studied before Parandur was selected as the airport site. He also noted that former Chief Minister MK Stalin had indicated work on the Parandur airport project would be dropped, but the Tamil Nadu government had not conveyed any such decision.
