The Upgraded Primary Health Centre in Kulumani, Andhanallur, will get Tiruchy district's first haemodialysis facility at a PHC, with five machines and capacity for about 30 patients a week.

The Upgraded Primary Health Centre (PHC) in Kulumani, Andhanallur, will house the first haemodialysis centre in a PHC in Tiruchy district. The 1,500-sq-ft facility will have five dialysis machines and can cater to around 30 beneficiaries a week, according to officials.
Patients requiring dialysis will primarily undergo consultation at Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Government Hospital (MGMGH) before being referred to Kulumani. A nephrologist who visits PHCs across the district will also be available for consultation at Kulumani on a designated day.
Officials said the facility will ease access for patients in rural areas and reduce the burden on patients who would otherwise have to travel to MGMGH each time, as well as reduce the workload at MGMGH.
