Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay urged southern states to build common economic and infrastructure networks at the Southern Zonal Council meeting, proposing the Bengaluru Metro extension to Hosur as a model. He also called for timely implementation of Supreme Court judgments in interstate water disputes.

At the 31st meeting of the Southern Zonal Council chaired by Union Home Minister Amit Shah in Kovalam, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay called for greater cooperation among southern states in developing shared economic and infrastructure networks. He suggested the proposed Bengaluru Metro extension to Hosur as a model for inter-state development. Vijay proposed that the council champion common economic and logistics clusters, including integrated manufacturing zones, shared multimodal logistics parks, and seamless freight and industrial corridors connecting production centers with ports and global markets. He said such an approach would reduce business costs, boost exports, attract investment, and spread industrial growth to smaller areas. The chief minister also underscored the need for timely implementation of Supreme Court judgments in interstate water disputes.
