The Tamil Nadu government has issued work orders to Joyalukkas and Kalyan Jewellers to supply one-gram gold rings under the 'Thaimaman Thanga Mothiram Thittam' scheme, which will present rings to babies born in government hospitals.

The Tamil Nadu government has issued work orders to Joyalukkas and Kalyan Jewellers in a 70:30 ratio for the supply of one-gram gold rings under the State Government's 'Thaimaman Thanga Mothiram Thittam' scheme. According to the Health Department, the firms are expected to supply a total of 1,28,499 one-gram gold rings for a four-month period beginning from June. The scheme is scheduled to be launched on September 15, the birth anniversary of former Chief Minister C. N. Annadurai. The government had announced that one-gram gold rings would be presented to babies born in government hospitals from June 22, 2026, onwards. A government order was issued for the procurement of 4,41,667 gold rings weighing one gram each, followed by the work orders to the two jewellers.
