TVK government's first 100 days marked by perception of reduced corruption at top levels

The TVK-led coalition government in Tamil Nadu, headed by Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay, has completed its first 100 days in office. While this period is considered too short for a final judgment on whether the government has changed the state's political culture, it has created a perception that reducing corruption at the highest levels of administration is possible.

Representatives from truckers' associations, the mining and dairy sectors, real estate players, and contractors working on PWD and highways projects say demands for 'cuts' at higher levels of administration have fallen significantly since the government assumed office on May 10. A large section of officials is now hesitant to demand 'cut payments' from contractors, mainly because ministers themselves are not reportedly demanding money. Sources note this is a perception shift rather than a confirmed change, and no definitive verdict has been reached.
