A fire broke out at a gas chemical complex in Russia's far eastern Amur region on Tuesday and was extinguished, the plant said on Wednesday. The plant reported seven deaths, including six Chinese nationals, and nine Chinese workers missing. In total, 152 people were treated for injuries, with 36 hospitalized. An emergency services plane was sent to transport the injured to other hospitals in Russia. The complex, a joint project of Russian company Sibur and Chinese oil and gas company Sinopec, describes itself as one of the world's largest producers of polyethylene and polypropylene. It has not yet begun operations and was preparing to start.
