Search and rescue operations continue in the Bay of Bengal for the crew of the MV Ocean Winner, a Panama-flagged bulk carrier that sank in the area. The Indian Coast Guard (ICG) said Tuesday that its vessel ICGS Varad recovered a lifeboat from the ship at the site, but no survivors were found. Parts of the vessel have also been recovered. The fate of the remaining 22 crew members remains unknown. The ICG said search efforts have been intensified, with additional Coast Guard assets and merchant vessels deployed. China has joined the operation, coordinating with the Maritime Rescue Coordination Centre in Beijing. The ICG acknowledged that the passage of time since the sinking has made survival chances slim, but said the search has been further augmented.
