At least 95 people are feared dead and hundreds more are missing after flash floods swept through parts of central Nepal on Wednesday, causing widespread damage to settlements and at least a dozen hydropower projects, officials said. The floods hit districts bordering Tibet.
Authorities reported that 384 travellers are missing, including 291 foreigners and 93 Nepalese nationals. Among the missing are at least 105 Indians and 37 non-resident Indians, according to officials.
The Indian Embassy in Kathmandu issued emergency numbers for assistance and information related to affected Indian nationals: +977 985 131 6807 and +977 970 910 7500. The Nepal Tourism Board has also issued a toll-free emergency number (1234), a hotline (1144), and a tourist police contact (9851289445) for help.
In India, the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) has been put on high alert in Bihar and Uttar Pradesh in connection with the floods.
