A four-seat Piper PA-24 aircraft crashed into shallow water near Seldovia, a remote coastal town in Alaska, on Wednesday, killing all four adults aboard, according to the Alaska Department of Public Safety. The plane was heading to Seldovia's airport after departing from Anchorage, about 219 kilometers away. The aircraft came to rest in approximately 15 feet of water in the Seldovia Slough near the shore. State troopers had to wait for the tide to recede before reaching the wreckage, after which they recovered the bodies of the four occupants and sent them to the medical examiner. The National Transportation Safety Board's Alaska regional chief, Clint Johnson, said the NTSB is investigating the crash, with local authorities assisting.
