Three gunmen entered a small house in an impoverished neighborhood in South Africa and opened fire on a group at a party, killing at least 11 people, including a pregnant woman, police and local authorities said Wednesday. Three other people were wounded in the late-night shooting Tuesday in KwaMakhutha township, about 30 kilometers (19 miles) south of Durban on South Africa's east coast.

Police said the motive for the shooting was not known. They said some of the victims were known to authorities as part of investigations into criminal activity, but did not release further information because it could compromise those investigations.

In a statement, police said the motive could not be confirmed yet and referred to a feud between rival groupings.
