A Russian drone struck the headquarters of Ukraine's security service in central Kyiv on Friday, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said. Local authorities reported that 12 people were wounded in the attack.

The headquarters, located near the historic St. Sophia Cathedral and international hotels, is among the agencies that carry out deep strike operations inside Russian territory.

The incident comes as the air war between Russia and Ukraine has intensified, with the conflict nearing five years since Moscow's invasion. Russia has recently been using fast-flying, jet-powered drones, and the recurring sound of air-raid sirens has become part of daily life in Kyiv.

Zelenskyy said the drone was deliberately targeted at the security service headquarters. U.S. officials were expected to hold diplomatic talks on ending the war.
