Seven Indian seafarers repatriated from Abu Dhabi tanker after 11 months
Seven Indian crew members of an oil tanker stuck at Abu Dhabi's Mina Zayed Port for 11 months have been repatriated. A seafarers' union says remaining crew have not been paid for five months and are still awaiting return.
Seven Indian seafarers who were reportedly stranded aboard the oil products tanker MV Sea Star 2 at Mina Zayed Port in Abu Dhabi for 11 months have returned to India. The Indian Embassy said in a social media post that it is closely following the welfare and early repatriation of the seafarers and that seven have already been repatriated, with efforts continuing for the remaining crew members. The seafarers' union FSUI said the remaining seafarers have not received wages for five months and alleged that the vessel's owner deducted visa and travel expenses from earlier payments and that important travel documents remain with port authorities.
