The United Arab Emirates accused Iran of firing two ballistic missiles toward shipping in the Gulf. Iran denied the claim. The UAE also suspended trade and financial dealings with Iran.

The United Arab Emirates said Tuesday that its air defenses detected two ballistic missiles launched from Iran, with one falling outside the country's territorial waters and the other inside. In a later statement, the UAE said assessments showed the missiles were targeting maritime navigation and fell into the sea. Iran's foreign ministry spokesman, Esmaeil Baqaei, categorically rejected the claim. Citing regional escalations, the UAE also suspended all trade and financial dealings with Iran until further notice.
