British Prime Minister Andy Burnham said the UK will help Ukraine make its own long-range missiles by sharing classified technical information for British components of the SCALP missile.

British Prime Minister Andy Burnham announced on Monday (August 24, 2026) that the UK will help Ukraine produce long-range missiles by sharing classified technical information for British-made parts. Speaking in Kyiv, where he was attending Ukraine's Independence Day events alongside other international leaders, Burnham said defence firm MBDA will release details on UK-made components for the SCALP missile to enable Ukraine to assemble the weapons. The SCALP is the French-produced version of the UK's Storm Shadow, an air-launched, high-precision missile with a range of more than 250 kilometres. Both versions share French and British technology. Measuring 5.1 metres, the missile is difficult to detect and is designed to hit fixed targets such as hardened bunkers and key infrastructure.
